On Friday, Ajmal Kasab backtracked on his earlier statement given to the court last July. Kasab claimed he had confessed under pressure from the police. In July last year, he gave a detailed account of how he was trained by the LeT in Pakistan. He also explained how the 10 terrorists came from Karachi to Mumbai. On Friday, Kasab said he was pressurised by the police and frustrated with the way the courts functioned. He also claimed that his defence lawyer K P Pawar was not representing him properly. Special Judge M L Tahaliyani reprimanded him, by pointing out that Kasab had displayed an unwillingness to meet Pawar and therefore could not blame his lawyer. The court is currently recording Kasab’s statement under Section 313 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
